Lynda Royal: Bachology Founder and Writer
When my grandmother died I asked to be left her cookbooks. I am fascinated by the scraps of paper with scribbled recipes, old community cookbooks and old fashioned food trends. Our mothers and grandmothers were experts at pulling together tasty meals usually out of cheap and simple ingredients.
I really enjoy cooking for me own family and friends. Particularly when I am on holiday because that’s when I have the time to create. My holiday cooking isn’t usually terribly elaborate. The focus is often seafood and I love just finding what’s around me and creating dishes from that – making do – making a lot out of a little. The term for a holiday home in some parts of New Zealand is a Bach – hence the name Bachology. So you will also find recipes here from holiday cooking, vintage recipes, vintage cookbooks and recipes with a story along with some social history too.

Sharon Elizabeth – Bachology Writer
Once upon a time, a young chatterbox called Sharon Elizabeth dreamed of running away to the circus to walk the tightrope, and of baking gargantuan cakes fit for the queen! Now all grown up and still a chatterbox, she resides in a Tudor house near the English South Coast with her composer husband, living an alternative fairy tale. A professional cabaret artiste, vintage lifestyle writer and creator of romantic baking for her website essensualbaking.com, the only tightrope this 40-something treads nowadays is the balancing act between her many passions and creative pursuits.
